Unknown to most people there is another oil spill relatively close to the present one called the Ocean Saratoga. The plume is 10 miles long and started on April 30. Horizon, the much bigger one, started on April 20.
Two problems here-spills close together in space and time.
This 2nd well, Ocean Saratoga, seems to have a boat nearby spraying dispersant. The photo on fox was courtesy of the Mobile Press Register which says leak started on May 30th. It is 12 miles off the Louisiana Coast, due west of Horizon (the rig responsible for the big spill). The website Skytruth put out sat photo of plume. The Mobile Press Register says they have seen federal documents on this newly reported spill. Fox is pressing officials for answers. Thad Allen, owners of rig, the company hired to run rig, Interior Dept., Coast Guard, nor The White House have provided any answers to this mystery. “…lot we still don’t know, very murky at this time.”
Fox states plume seems to be real but no straight answers from any one. They expect The Department of The Interior to comment shortly.
As if there wasn’t enough oil pouring into the Gulf of Mexico, satellite images have revealed a 10-mile-long slick from another drilling rig, which apparently began leaking days after the Deepwater Horizon disaster began. Citing an environmental group and federal documents, the Mobile, Ala., Press- Register reports that the smaller leak, from the Ocean Saratoga platform, apparently began around April 30 and was noted by federal officials May 15. But they and Diamond Offshore officials aren’t saying anything else about it.
The spill was first reported by SkyTruth, which said it accidentally discovered the separate slick while scrutinizing Deepwater Horizon images. Photos taken during overflights “appear to show a large oil crew boat pumping dispersants into the water at the spill site,” the Press- Register writes.
Officials at the National Response Center, which is coordinating the massive BP spill, said the Ocean Saratoga leak had been reported, but they would not say exactly when it began. The Coast Guard has not yet responded either. The Ocean Saratoga, currently under contract to the Marshall Islands, can operate in water 2,200 feet deep and drill to 25,000 feet. The photo of the rig did not seem to show any signs of fire but, who knows, I suppose there could be an electrical connection via the sea floor itself. I think it’s an awfully bizarre coincidence though with this unfolding situation.
I am working on something else right now but I will attempt to keep tabs on this story for everyone.
This just might be something like what occurred in Chile between cities that had those major earthquakes so far apart.
The date it leaked at the 2nd well has not been defined. You know of the Kimberlites in Dmetriev’s paper on earthquakes… They just might be formed under weird conditions.
But even if the 2nd spill originated with a lightning strike, it’s still a bizarre coincidence. An electrical event originating from above is very unlikely as well whether it be a solar event or any other kind of event of this nature.
The more likely scenario is something common through the crust and connected somehow through common structures and those with the same kind of electrical nature.
Governor Perry made the remark that maybe this was an act of God. Maybe he was right in the broadest sense of the word, just like the earthquake in Chile!
This new deep well may well have opened up a Pandora’s box because some are saying there has been no improvement in capturing oil. What if they dig that deep hole to shut the well and……… Uh oh……. If this idea is right, then another electrical event could occur. Good grief, the oil is what is carrying the charge. Even if the water that is being pumped in takes the place of the oil, the charge is being pumped out with the oil… And methane. Because of the depth of the oil, the charges will be greater due to it’s assimilation of charge below from the surrounding crust.
The only way to possibly stop this is to raise the charge on the water to repel or slow down the accumulation of charges from below. We are talking about a “Van de Graff Generator” with the accumulation of all that oil on the surface of the gulf.
Now we really have a crazy scenario-a huge methane or natural gas explosion. And a large solar event just might be enough to trigger the event. There actually may not be much time left.
I guess I am just not sure that deep water drilling will shut the spill down. I do know that materials have far different properties when they are put under such pressures-like conductivity increases. It makes me wonder if the powers that be knew this? They should have!
It occurred to me that ordinary oil, refined, is an insulator, but the methane may still be a problem. It may be just a small portion of the products brought up carry a charge.
I wonder what might have been going on off the Chilean coast before the earthquake?
