POLE SHIFT! It May Be A Reality

I recently received a question from a reader concerning a possible coming Pole Shift. His question was not so much if or when, but rather what to do if it happens and is there a possibility of surviving it.It’s such an important point that most of the time theorist fore go discussing what to do when something like that does happen.

I’ve been searching for some time now a good survival location (if there’s such a thing), for the up-coming planetary catastrophe. My goal is to set-up a small survival community with varied skills, and great determination to survive. I would greatly appreciate your feedback, especially the location.

Historically speaking, there appears to have been magnetic pole shifts and these have been documented. The magnetic North Pole is not of course the physical North Pole. If you are a pilot or know one, you understand this fact. However that may be true more for us older pilots, not the new ones. We used to have to navigate by the compass, but nowadays we have GPS technology, which is very accurate.

However… Physical Pole Shift is a little bit different in consequences than a magnetic Pole Shift:

Several theorists have talked about possible historical and future pole shifts. Velikovsky talked about venus passing close by the earth and causing problems. Charles Hapgood, the map maker, hypothesized about a future pole shift and the possible causes. Both men were friends of Einstein, who did not agree with the possibility. In recent years a books by Richard Noone and William Hutton bring on the subject and possibility again.

The question here, however, is not the theory of the occurrence of Pole Shift, it’s what to do in case of one! This one possible global disaster could be served as an example for other possible global disasters. To help answer this question, I want to introduce you to someone much more qualified than myself to answer this question; an expert in the field of survivorship. His name is Adam Dummar (doo’-mar) and he has been studying and practicing the skill of surviving quite a few years, and plenty long enough to make him an advanced expert in the field. I understand he will soon announce his own website with plenty of great info and lots of surprises! We will keep you updated! In the meantime, here’s his advice, I step aside to the “Man”:

Thanks Gary, you’re a funny fellow! I mean that in the best of ways!

This is a great question. You mentioned specifically concern with regard to a physical shifting of pole location in relation to the earth’s rotational axis. Such a drastic change in the physical dimensions of the earth would be the result of a major event that would be cataclysmic in nature and global in effect. As Ezine aptly points out, this would best be described as a “planetary catastrophe.”

The sheer scale of such an event makes it difficult to determine a “safe location.” Ultimately, there could be no area that would be free from the effects of such an event. That being said, once the immediate cataclysm had passed, the survivors would gravitate to certain areas. Which leads to the first great concern. It is important to avoid the naivete of Hollywood and other similar voices. In the event of such a catastrophe many people would actually survive the event itself. Whatever the cause of the pole shift (asteroid, near orbit passing/collision, weakening and shifting of tectonic plates, etc.), the simple global distribution of man ensures that barring a concerted effort to actually eliminate the species, survival is unquestionable. As bad as the the event itself, the real struggle begins in the aftermath. Changing weather patterns, severe topographical changes, extreme geological events, combined with the breakdown of an interdependent society, would be the real killers. The destruction caused by the event would be rather quickly terminated, but the collapse would continue for a long time thereafter.

So, what would be the qualifications for a good survival location? First off: there is not any one good location. As mentioned above, there is no place that would be safe or unaffected by the change, therefore the first concern is rather to eliminate the worst locations. As a rule anything within five to ten miles from coastal areas would not be advisable. This is due to the possibility of tsunami’s or tidal waves first and foremost, but also due to the fact that those living within these areas would almost immediately begin a mad dash away from the danger. This would be the first encounter with the collapse of society and control. By being at least five to ten miles away from the coast, one would have time to either flee in front of the masses/cataclysm, or to secure your position against any dangers. Sooner or later any such location would likely need to be abandoned in order to find a site for long term survival.

Here the second danger of the collapse of society presents itself. What we might call renegades, looters, or simply bullies. These groups will operate as de facto governments in the anarchy of collapse. The good news is is that most of them will be centered in large (or formerly large) population centers. There is a simple reason for this. Most survivors will seek out what they once associated with comfort and security. This will be found in cities containing hospitals, shopping malls, grocery stores, and possibly the vestiges of police or other official institutions. This mass of humanity forcing its way into areas that are no longer equipped to deal with people will present a vulnerable target for renegades. Of course many people would recognize this and begin leaving these areas, forcing their way into any available location. As time passes these population centers will become disease infested and force more and more people out. However, these areas will continue to provide resources in raw materials and even in manufactured goods and products. You would not want to be too remote from these locations and thus deny yourself of valuable opportunities for scavenging and replacing supplies.

A good location for long term survival must allow for self reliant living of the society that establishes itself there. The first year or two after a disaster would drain the ready to hand resources of any area, requiring the survivors to know how to find new resources, either through planting, harvesting, and agrarian activities or hunter-gathering activities (or more likely a combination of these).  The ideal location therefore, would be within one to three day journey (on foot, typically 30-100 miles) from a large population center, in a relatively open/undeveloped area. It would be necessary to avoid low laying coastal areas (at least at first) since these will likely produce disease in great numbers (and attract many people thinking only of gentler climates and food sources or delivery via the ocean/seas). Water is a major concern, so obviously arid desert environments would not be ideal, but keep in mind that such drastic changes to the planet could very well turn once inhospitable areas into veritable gardens, and make thriving areas into wastelands. Proximity to rivers or lakes would be preferable, but the actual location should be elevated in comparison to these sources (also many sources might well be unavailable or severely contaminated after a catastrophe). There should also be plenty of room for expansion, as this will prevent many conflicts by competing groups/individuals.

A supply of food, medicines, and basic living goods (don’t forget the toilet paper!) sufficient for one year should also be available. This is imperative since it will take time to readjust to possible changes in the seasons and simply to learn to live without stores and mass productions. If there are not sufficient supplies to make it through the first year, there will likely be few people to benefit from the first year experiences in the second year. After that time the survivors would either no longer be surviving (to put it nicely), or they would be thriving and growing (and with few “extracurricular activities” available, the population would likely start growing quickly). Be sure to plan for this basic fact. A three week blizzard in Colorado a few years ago resulted in a notable increase in the birthrate. Imagine that same phenomenon after an enduring, global, catastrophe. In survival situations it is easy to get caught up in stockpiling weapons, food, tools, medicines, etc. What a waste to not take into consideration the more basic fact that surviving is pointless without rebuilding (in one form or another), and that a global catastrophe marks not merely the end of an era, but also the commencement of another.

I hope this helps, if there are more specific questions, please let me know. I will be happy to look into this and provide more detailed responses as necessary. Please ask your questions below and comments are very welcome!

It seems that, surviving the coming desasters is notthe main thing….but surviving the survivers.

Why do I get the impression that this article is to all occur inside me, and initiated by my reason? Perhaps I hear the birds?

Suppose at the very least, we’re off the electric grid.

Alleluia!, I say. I’m sick to death of people

discussing “American Idol” and “Dancing with the Stars”

or texting while driving when they s/b educating

themselves on potential solar storms and/or the coming

fascist New World Order. Americans are really asleep at

the wheel when it comes to connecting the dots on world

events. Perhaps all that fluoride has dulled their

    senses.

Stock up on long-burning candles & buy an inexpensive

magnesium flint to start a fire anytime… even in the

rain. Grow vegetables in a backyard garden or on your

balcony. Dehydrate or can vegetables & meats. Have

portable water purifiers on hand (Cabela’s). Weapons &

ammo are a must to defend yourself from roving gangs of

looters, etc. If things go from bad to worse re: our

fellow man, block any light from your home’s windows

w/black garbage bags. Read some books on this subject…

there are hundreds of them… read Rawlings on preparing.

Buy small, inexpensive solar panels for charging small

items (cell phone towers will be dead, so forget the

phones). Some think that silver & gold will be of value.

I don’t think so. I can see people bartering for horses,

bicycles, food, ammo, the last drops of gas. In the long-

term, how can silver or gold possibly help anyone?

Survivors will build small societies without a money

system. I have a multi-cooker and solar oven on hand.

Taught myself to bake bread & can veggies. I envision

baking a loaf of bread for someone who can pay me in .38

caliber bullets, for instance. No gold; no silver.

Today I began planting seedlings for medicinal herbs. I

have 2 books to read on how to make homeopathic

medicines from these herbs. I built a root cellar 2

months ago for storing garden foods. My distilled water

is stored in 2-gallon, hermetically sealed glass jugs. A

couple drops of bleach killed any remaining bacteria. I

installed 2 rain barrels onto the gutter downspouts.

These will collect rain water and snow melt to be used

    for washing, not drinking.

Educate yourselves ASAP! You still have time. Two years

ago, I didn’t know how to do any of this! I built a

small greenhouse from a kit last year. Next spring, I’ll

build a chicken coop and my hens will give us daily,

free-range eggs. I’m 66 years old, have a number of

health issues, and if I can do this — alone, mind you –

younger people certainly can. Get moving! Have some

potassium iodide pills on hand… loads of vitamins, esp.

Vitamin C. Masks for blocking particulates bec. disease

will become a problem. Find other “preppers” and

organize survival groups. Pool your resources and skills.

I’ll be generous with my food, etc., (wouldn’t turn down

a good neighbor or a child’s needs) but as you can

surmise, I’ve worked my tail off to prepare. I really

want to survive. I plan on cooperative living in a

    cooperative community. I firmly believe it’s do-able.

But I’m not afraid to pull the trigger on any criminal

intending me or my loved ones harm.

Everything I said above is the mind-set you need.

As soon as one realizes what the lack of electricity means for nuclear power plants one knows there is no safe place ON earth.

This shortens Mr. Durhams book by hundreds of pages I´m afraid.

In response to Charles D. No one knows what you really need. You could come up with just about anything and people today will dive right into it. I will offer my simple observations:
The people in the cities will perish first and the people in rural areas will perish when the people in the cities travel out and kill them for food.
The government will all be hiding in “Crystal Mountain” (lol) and will attempt to continue their control but will quickly cut off to ensure their own survival.
Each person needs different supplies, most need alot less than they think.
All types will survive and the number that dies will depend on what you think will sell more books.
The last thing people should be worried about is electricity.
And you can pick anywhere for a safe place, those who have an answer already is theirs (and others) so just pick one, doesn’t really matter.
People will hoard money and things at first and maybe someday it will have value but I highly doubt it.

If it helps you at all. Good luck and I hope I read your book someday!

I have memories from the age of 5 that are very clear, as I looked around, nothing would remain the same and why doesn’t anyone know that what we see will all be gone (not END but different)? Of course no one wants to think in our new world. I have died three times in my life (1 at 2, 2 at 17) and would love to say that you get “a great message and information for all”, for my case it was a clear thought of reality but that’s another story. At age 19 I packed a pack after having yet another thought, vision, whatever, doesn’t matter and knew exactly where to go. I knew I would not end up alone. Of course being that age I allowed my family to talk some “sense” into me. I then had a child and have spent the last 18 years exsisting as the walking dead. I have not been and have no wish to be connected to society. I believe everyones beliefs are right for them and everything that is happening is following the appropriate structure. I disagree that there is nowhere safe, there are places that will be difficult maybe but will be relativly safe. I only have answers for myself. I have searched far and wide for many years to try and find people like me, who want to remove themselves from the changes. I don’t know if all of it will happen in my lifetime or not. I do know that leaving is not about security but about finding a new exsitance either way. If anyone is interested feel free to correspond with me at opnsesamie@aol.com.

In reply to garygoodwin’s comment; Trust me, I’ve been stocking up on tinned food, water and freeze dried food as well as fuel & camping equipment and medication.

I am a realist, WHEN all hell breaks lose I’ll be fine for maybe a year then it will be curtains. As my medication costs over 20 grand a year, (and that does not include insulin which needs to be chilled), I’ll be fine then I’ll be part of the die off.

I’m 47, a realist yet plan for something hopefull at the same time. Sad to say I can’t carry a fridge on my back for insulin.

I feel sorry for the majority of the world who just don’t realize that massive change is happening. I feel as if I’m from another planet, looking down at mankind and going tisk tisk tisk you fools.

Store food, water, medicine, fuel, vitamins.

    Regards,

    Michael/Toronto/Canada

I like your comment. And I’m not being cynical about it. It is my strong belief that folks like our current president are very naive in the power that exists out there. A power that is coming this way. A power so strong that there will no longer exist any sort of organization at all.

Yes Michael, a lot of very good people will die, and many bad ones too. But that doesn’t mean you will. You have time now to prepare. Not only physically, store up supplies and learn how to manage your health problems if supplies disappear. I’m not sure about the pole shift either to be honest. However I am sure that there is a change coming… a drastic change. Sometimes I feel like the guy on the corner with the sandwich boards yelling “It’s the end of the world! It’s the end of the world!” I used to giggle at those guys. I even have a couple of favorite pictures of a few of them. My professional training has told me that they are mentally ill. Maybe we all are! Maybe I am. No I’m not. What I have learned is not insane. It sounds insane, it seems crazy. But the source is real and this is real. A change is coming. Get yourself ready.

Although I’m not totally convinced about a pole shift, I am convinced about a potential solar storm(s) which we are scheduled to have towards the end of 2012. These storms can knock out the POWER GRID, telecommunications, electronics etc……

No power equals no water equals riots equals crime equals civil disorder.

No power equals no fuel equals no food production.

No power equals no medicine being produced.

It will take YEARS to rebuild the power grid, there will be a massive “die off” of people who need medicine to survive.

I don’t think that in such situation the whole of the political structure, the State, will colapse. There will be some initial disorder but at the end everything will be under the control of the represive institutions — they already have plans for …

These are interesting articles. I have just discovered to my immense benefit the work of Professor James Maccanny, and this website. I am also reading velikovsksies books slowly, and with thought. I have read Alan and delairs book and the only suggestion I can make now is–take cover!!!!
However I do suggest to people looking at this immense subject to do a few things. First, read up all the GOOD literature on the subject. By all means read Zetatalk, but my own feelings are not very -agreeing– with the sites content or purpose. NASA??? CIA???
Next, as I plan to do soon, read up on the subject of your countries wild plants. Identification, food value, and how to eat them, and of course medicinal value. And go vegetarian as far as you can. It is easier.
Next read the signs. Alex Jones, David Icke, Rense.com, (and this website), whilst some of their views may not be agreeable,to you as with myself, one does get at the truth of what is happening. Not by listening to the BBC!!!!
next make lists of survival gear, foodstuffs, just for fun, but be prepared.
now all we need are some signs that are unmistakable and that it is time to put theory into practice.
I suggest having basic supplies in a back room, and cupboard. they are always useful if nothing happens. Start now!!!!
lastly, decide after careful thought, what to do. Either stay with family, or neighbours, or flee to the Highlands of Scotland or Colorado, according to case. I have few/no attachments at all so my choice is easy for me. It is easy to flee, but you may be the only person who really knows what is happening, if Phaeton arrives, and the powers that be take to the underground bases. Compassion must always reign here as always and common sense.
then, relax, make some tea and at least if the propeller and the manure heap meet up, you are as prepared as anyone and know what is coming!!!!

I am a writer thinking about this subject, there are a few things that I need to research to make my story scientifically correct. My catostophic event is that something happens to blackout our electrical grid. I haven’t decided for how long, but at least a year. I haven’t decided how, but natural disaster is one of my thoughts as well as an attack on the grid by another country to weaken our defenses and to set up for an invasion. A few things I need to know is as follows
    A. A time line of events from days to weeks to months
    B. What would work and what wouldn’t (generators, solar energy, alternative forms of energy)
    C. What would happen to people in the cities versus people in rural areas
    D. How much food supply do we have in our homes, in our stores, and storage elsewhere.
    E. What would the government do to help, or would they help
    F. What would be the social impact to the general population
    G. Where would be the safest place to be
    H. Who would survive and how many would perish
    I. What will happen in terms of money, will it hold a value in society or will we barter for goods

If you have any input that would help me to develope a good story I would appreciate any help. Feel free to email me and we can discuss other ideas.
